The daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seeks to remove Pitt from the name

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, has requested that Pitt be removed from her last name.

Shiloh, who is the former Hollywood couple’s third oldest child, filed the petition last Monday (May 27) in Los Angeles County Superior Court on her 18th birthday.

According to the request (via Los Angeles Times), wants to be known as Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.

It comes after two of Pitt and Jolie’s other children appeared to have distanced themselves from the Pitt name, with eldest daughter Zahara introducing herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie” in a video by the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority (via Essence).

His daughter Vivienne also recently removed Pitt’s name from a Playbill credit for Broadway. The outsidersaccording People.

It comes amid Pitt and Jolie’s ongoing divorce proceedings: Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 following an alleged physical altercation on a private plane, with one of her children, Maddix, allegedly involved in the incident.

Pitt was the subject of a “child abuse investigation” in connection with the alleged incident, and the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services later cleared the actor of wrongdoing.

Details of the alleged altercation came to light in 2022 after it was revealed that Jolie was the plaintiff in an anonymous complaint against the FBI, which had closed an investigation into Pitt’s alleged domestic assault. Pitt has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

The former couple were also involved in a dispute over their French winery Château Miraval, with Pitt suing Jolie in 2022 over her alleged sale of his share of the winery without his prior consent.

Jolie claims Pitt blocked the sale of the property and would only agree if she agreed to a “more onerous” and “expansive” confidentiality agreement. Jolie has previously suggested that Pitt wants her to sign a confidentiality agreement to prevent him from speaking out about her alleged abusive behavior toward her and her children.

Earlier this year, Jolie’s lawyers called Pitt’s attempts to obtain her previous confidentiality agreements with third parties “abusive.”

In April, Jolie’s lawyers claimed that Pitt had been physically abusive before the plane incident, and a representative for Pitt declined to comment on the new abuse allegations.
