CEO Philip Nolan leaves Science Foundation Ireland after a board meeting

The CEO of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), the state body responsible for funding scientific research in Ireland, has left the organisation, The Currency has learned. Professor Philip Nolan’s departure follows a meeting of the SFI board of directors on Monday, the scientific body confirmed. Deputy CEO Dr Ciarán Seoighe has been appointed acting CEO. Nolan, a former member of the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) during the Covid-19 pandemic, took up the role of Director General of the SFI in January 2022.
