Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has received plenty of praise throughout his career and is sure to find more as he enters the final months of his career after announcing he will retire.

Toni Kroos announced that his career will come to an end after the European Championship this summer.

The Real Madrid midfielder still has another Champions League final to play in before representing Germany in his home country this summer, and has then decided to hang up his boots. There were rumors that Kroos would be offered a new contract in the Spanish capital, and it was only in March that the 34-year-old came out of international retirement.




Kroos issued a statement to reveal that Real Madrid would be his last club. He said: “I am happy and proud because in my mind I found the right time for my decision and I was able to choose it on my own.

“My ambition was always to finish my career at the top of my performance level. From now on there is only one main thought: go for 15!!! GO TO MADRID AND NOTHING ELSE!”

The German’s decision has received mixed reactions, with the likes of Gareth Bale and Jude Bellingham paying tribute to the superstar. The England international’s message was simply a broken heart and a goat.

Real Madrid star Lucas Vásquez seemed unimpressed with Kroos’ decision and jokingly gave a more qualified response of frustration. “Fuck you,” he posted. Kroos has not lacked praise throughout his career and mirror football Check out some below.

The former Argentina international and Boca Juniors star gave an elegant summary of Kroos’ talent. “Toni Kroos is the closest thing I’ve seen to Roger Federer playing tennis,” he said.
