Provincial police looking for escaped inmate from Laval, Que.

Quebec provincial police are asking the public for help in locating Yacine Zouaoui, 32, after the inmate escaped from the Federal Training Center in Laval, Que.

Staff at the minimum security prison noticed Zouaoui missing at 10:45 pm Thursday. He’s serving a sentence for assault and a second degree murder committed in BC in 2011, according to Surete du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Stéphane Tremblay.

“We know that he left on foot but he could try to find a way to travel or try to request transportation and he could also be outside of the province and he could be in the province of Ontario,” Tremblay said.

Zouaoui stands 6 feet one inch tall, weighs 186 pounds and has a dark complexion, brown eyes, brown hair as well as a teardrop tattoo under his left eye and three dots in the web of his left hand. He was last seen wearing a light colored shirt, jeans and black sneakers.

The Sûreté du Québec is asking anyone with information to call its tip line. Tremblay says that if anyone sees Zouaoui, they should call 911 and should not attempt to approach him.
