Windsor police investigate possible drowning deaths

Windsor police are investigating the “possible drowning deaths” of two people in the Sandpoint Beach area on the city’s east side.

Police took to social media at 8:44 p.m. Thursday to report that officers were investigating the possible drowning deaths of two people near the beach.

Speaking with CTV News at the scene, Const. Bianca Jackson said: “And what happened here is that there were three people who had gone to the outskirts of Sanpoint beach to go swimming. And what happened was two were swept away. We are on scene investigating this. right now. We have the Windsor police marine unit. We have our patrol officers, we have our drone, we have the Canadian Coast Guard, we basically have all hands on deck to search for. these two individuals, and that’s all I have right now,” Jackson said.

He added that police are looking for “two East Indian men in their 20s. They will only be wearing their swimming trunks.”

Sandpoint is located in the 10000 block of Riverside Drive East.

Police urge any residents or witnesses in the area who can help with the investigation to call 911 immediately.
