Ethiopian government says $4.2 billion in aid and loan


Toronto – Ethiopia’s Finance Ministry said Thursday that $4.2 billion has been raised through loans and grants for this budget year. He said what had been planned was to secure $2.4 billion (“commitment”) and called it “about 171 percent of the plan.”

The disclosure came as part of the Ministry’s nine-month evaluation of its budget performance.

The result of this year’s revenue collection was highlighted. According to the Ministry, 356.5 billion birr in taxes was planned to be collected and 337.9 billion birr was collected. He rated it a 94.8 percent performance for the nine-month plan and a 69.6 percent performance for the entire budget year plan.
