Taxi ends up on car bonnet after multi-vehicle collision in PIE, Singapore News

SINGAPORE – Three people were taken to hospital following a pile-up on PIE in the early hours of May 22.

Police said they were alerted to the accident, involving three cars and a taxi, on foot towards Changi Airport at 1.55am.

A 54-year-old car driver, a 63-year-old taxi driver and their 40-year-old passenger were conscious when they were taken to hospital, they added.

The Singapore Civil Defense Force said the three were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Photos of the aftermath of the accident posted on the Facebook group “Singapore road” show a Comfort Delgro taxi trapped between a dark-colored sedan and a light-colored car.

The dark-colored sedan was apparently struck from behind by the taxi, the rear half of which was resting on the hood of the car behind it.

In a video of the incident, posted by user Shafie Sham in the comments section of the post, the two rightmost lanes of the three-lane highway are seen to be closed. At least one ambulance can be seen in the video.

The Straits Times has contacted Comfort Delgro for more information.

Police investigations are ongoing.
