Christian Eriksen fascinating insight into what Man Utd players can expect from Mauricio Pochettino

Christian Eriksen has already given his opinion on Mauricio Pochettino’s coaching methods amid links to Manchester United.

Pochettino left his role as Chelsea manager by mutual consent earlier this week. The 52-year-old had guided the West London club to sixth place in the Premier League and reached the Carabao Cup final and FA Cup semi-final, as well as qualifying for Europe.

Erik ten Hag’s future as United manager has been the subject of speculation throughout the season. Several potential candidates have already been linked with replacing the Dutchman in the event that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos Group opt to make a change this summer.

Just days after leaving Chelsea, Pochettino was linked with taking over as United manager this summer. Eriksen is the one player in the Reds squad who already has experience working with the Argentine.

Eriksen spent seven years at Tottenham Hotspur, during which time he had Pochettino as his manager for five of those from 2014–19. It was in April last year that the United midfielder explained what it was like to have training sessions led by the 52-year-old at Spurs, hinting at what life could be like for United if he is appointed this summer.

“I think, obviously, I had Poch for a lot longer than the other managers and I think what we did and what we created with him, the team we had was incredible,” said Eriksen on the United’s ‘UTD podcast’.

“So, learning wise, I did learn from Poch. You’d have the ball less in training than before but have the ball a lot more in the games.

“With him, there was a lot of tough training, a lot of running, which is important for the physical part. We were a young side so, for us, it was the perfect mix and, just in the game, to play free “
