Search for elderly Longford man called off after body discovered

The body of a Longford man who was missing for 11 days has been found in a wooded area near his home.

The search for Peter Oliver Bohan, 79, in north Longford, was called off following the discovery of his body yesterday afternoon.

He had been missing from his home on the outskirts of Drumlish since Sunday, May 12.

Since then a joint Garda and Civil Defense search has been carried out with the help of the public.

Garda aerial units, drones and specialist sniffer dogs were deployed in the search for Peter.

An autopsy will be performed in the coming days.

Inspector Declan McGlynn, of Longford Garda Station, thanked everyone who helped in the search.
